1989 – Annapolis to St. Michaels
George just commented that he thought the sailboat weekend in Annapolis to St. Michael’s was this year. Too bad we have no pics.

Although there are no photos, we did have a rip roaring fun time piloting the Orcha and the Windsome from Annapolis to St. Michaels and back. One of the highlights was the captain of Orcha, Max, crashing a debutant ball at Perry Cabin. Stinking of beer and crab guts, he rowed the dingy over to the dance hall and took a few of the girls for a twirl or two before being thrown out. Unfortunately, the Orcha plowed into and onto a sandbar (a little submerged island with a coffee can on a stick as a warning) on our first beat out of St. Michaels and because of the gull wing keel, we we were T-eed up on the island like a golf ball and stuck while the tide was going out. The crew of Orcha tried mightily to free the several ton vessel by jumping in the bay and pushing so hard that UncleT loosed a brown trout. Finally a marine police woman had a local salvage man heal us over and then dragged us off the sandbar with twin 100 hp outboard motors, while the local salvage man, I think his name was Goober, exclaimed – “shoot – I never seen nobody stuck that hard”. To catch up after being freed, Tim Clemens (captaining the other boat, Windsome) complained that we had unfairly started our engine to assist the wind. No one on Orcha has ever admitted to such un-sportsman like conduct. T
